CONGRATULATIONS ON THE HOUSE!!
My news- I’ve basically been dealing with a baby, a herniated disc in my back, and hopelessly broken hearing aids and the endless adventure of trying to replace them. Apparently audiologists in NYC have waaaay too many patients and can’t squeeze a new one in for a few months, and my old audiologist doesn’t take my insurance. *GRUNK*
Hence my not posting often.
I miss all you guys!

Congrats on the house, my sister is hoping to do the same time soon. The weather here in England has been mixed, with a few days of sun here and there. It rained throughout most of my holiday in Wales though…
I’ve been working lots of hours in my job, fighting incompetent HR and slow bureaucratic systems which are delaying my disability equipment. I’m currently kicking “DO NOT look after me, enable me damnit” into HR’s heads on a daily basis…
I got recruited onto BiCon 2007’s organising team a few weeks ago at the semi-last minute because they needed people (http://www.bicon2007.org.uk) so I’ve been running and attending that up until last week. I was always on 2008’s team (http://www.bicon2008.org.uk) so am starting work on that while I have the energy…
Erm what else, well I’ll be job hunting as of next week because my contract extension is not guaranteed. Which will be fun… i’d like to stay in London for a while even if the rent is extortionate!

hi all, I haven’t posted in a long while been busy with physio. been doing rehabilitation to build up my back, hips and legs so I can get around and also hoping i wont need to have further spinal surgery. It has been very had and improvement VERY slow.
Went away for 9 days, it was so great the first time since we got married (thats 23 years).
We have had a lot of severe strains of flu this year real nasty I was in bed for 10 days slept pretty much 24/7, really lousy. Hopefully we will have a sunny summer and none of the rain any countries have been having although we had our share here to. I love the warm weather, not hot just warm and if there must be wind just a gentle breeze. hmm now we just have to wait and see.
Lette do you know my he is also into photography and posts to a number of groups. He has photos on flicker and goes under the name craniac.

HI. i’m Diarra. I’m doing a project called ‘Whats your Culture?’ for 9th grade world cultures. I’m doing mine on sign language, because i’ve been learning it for about 2 years now, and i really want to go into teaching asl later. I’m not finished with it though, because i need to know what the world is like for deaf people, like how do you feel about it? i know that was a really stupid question, but i dont know how else to ask. Please help.

hi Diarra, here in South Africa it is only in the last 7 years that the deaf or hard of hearing have been given any chance at getting equal rights as the hearing. Sign language has only become
accepted as a language. Jobs were very hard to come by as people took the attitude “you are deaf so you are dumb”. I was the first person to receive the BAHA in the Cape. I am totally deaf in both ears and do not sign but lipread and with my aid I cope reasonably well.
I hope this helps if you need any other info let me know and I will see what I can do to help.

Howdy Diarra
Im here in Ireland here we have ISL (Irish Sign Lingo) and Life in the world is good, like in America Ireland has leaped forward in equal rights and deaf and disabilities awarness in recent years. I lipread and am constantly learning Sign language, Im in college in Limerick School of Art And Design in the Southwest of Ireland and there I have a ‘Loop System’ and Hearing aids in both ears, and a not taker, and as I lipread more than sign, this year im getting a Lipspeaker for my lectures, so the help os definatly there
Any more questions??? perhaps you might like to ask about what stuff sounds like to us if anything?
Jobs?
College and education?
socialising?
what its like to wear hearing aids and stuff!
….theres loads to ask, just think about it
