The Silence of Deafness is an Abstract, not an Absolute.
well I went to my Specialist thismorning, and saw his understudy, who eventually got stumped about the thing thats happening me, he went and talked to the Proffessor and to cut a long story short, they dont know!….great help huh?!! So they just put it down to Estachian tube dysfunction again!
They now want to put in T-Tubes, this will be my 9th opperation on my ears, and they said it should work to stop the pressure and air building up behind the ear drum, but they are worried that my ear drums are so very thin and weak, they may not be able to hold the tubes for long or at all, so they are risking completely wrecking my ear drums beyond repair….hmmmm!
Not the thing is they are not like the regular little Grommit type T-Tubes like they have put in before, just in the ear drum, these will be the long straw tupe tubes and they well be inserting them in to the Estachian tubes to open them out and ballance the air, the ends of the tubes will be sutured in place in my ear drums like the grommits would be, but the rest of the tubes will trail down into the Estachian tubed from the ear down behind the nose!…
Has anyone heard of T-Tubes like this, and do you think it will be worth the risk of irriversably destroying my already damaged ear drums?!!
The thing is, if it works, it will stop the horrid ‘breathing through my ears’ sinsation that if had for years, if not my ear drums will be, well, gone! so I dont know!…. This sinsation is killing me at the moment and im almost willing to try anything to stop it!
What do ye think?? HELP!

Hi Lette, sorry to hear about the news that good docs there aren’t
really sure what to do with them ears of yours. I think I should lift
your case in prayer to Lord so that you may find comfort in Him. We
can ask God to remove the horrid sensations you experience so you
wont have to gamble with losing your eardrums. You can trust God at
the mo for as the song goes… “God works in ways we do not see,
God will make a way for you and me”.:)

hi lette. I can appreciate your uncertainty about having the new grommets fitted. I can also appreciate how crazy the problem must be making you feel.
Its so simple to say well if they do it and it doesn’t work thats
unfortunate and u run the risk of losing the last of your hearing. It has 2 very important factors. If they dont know for sure what the problem is you will be setting yourself up as a guinea pig firstly and secondly if it doesn’t work and u lose what is left of your hearing will only add to your misery.
I realize it is a very tough decision to make but we only have one pair of ears. I personally think the doctors should be sure and be able to give u the positive answers.
I hope all goes well and that you get sorted.

What did you eventually do regarding this? I’m not familiar with Eustachian tubes, but don’t quite understand why they would need to be sutured to your eardrum. If you’ve got fluid buildup in middle ear because your Eustachian tubes don’t open like they should, having the other end of the tube fixed through the eardrum wouldn’t provide a way for the Etubes to drain.

No no no ur not understanding completely!! but I understand, in fairness were not doctors, the T-tubes, or grommets are like a straw for the want of a better description! what they then do is, they cut a little hole in ur eardrum, put the straw through and sew it in place so it doesnt fall out straight away, what this does is supply sufficent airation and an open drainage system from the back of your eardrum out …
so they done suture your Tymphanic membrane closed, they cut it open and put in an open tube to airate and drain it, and its brilliant in the sence that you dont feel it in there and it helps alleviate the pressure and the fluid from behind the drum.
obvious down side is the tube leaves the area behind the drum open, which is usually closed off, this means there can be infections, but only if you swim or leave in water, where the water can stagnate and cause problems, so all you have to do is plug up the ears and away ya go
my breathing through the ears has stopped and the fluid build up is gone, and I feel great, I have had to give up swimming, but I can live with that!!!
