The Silence of Deafness is an Abstract, not an Absolute.
I was talking to Adam yesterday on Email with regards to headphones that have the best sound quality and affordability,he asked me what I would recommend, im such a music junkie! My personal Favorites for everyday use, are my Sennheiser PX100’s that Keith got me for christmas, they are awsome, and Iv written about them here before, The best feature with these is, they are so comfortable even on over my aids, and the sound quality is just crisp in comparison to other phones
so Iv done some extra research and this article is taken direct from HeadRoom’s website, see more here: http://www.headphone.com/guide/by-application/our-10-best-headphones/
Here they talk about their top 10 in headphones J Enjoy!
HeadRooms top ten Phones!
This is where we boil down all our headphone knowledge to its bare essence and recommend just ten headphones. So, in cost order, here they are:
Our favorite inexpensive, general purpose, portable-application headphone is the AKG K26P (or it’s sibling AKG 27i) model. It sounds good, collapses down to easily tuck away in it’s included pouch, and it features a sealed-earcup [closed] construction to provide some degree of external ambient noise-blocking. For a little better sound, but without the ambient seal, have a look at the Koss Porta Pro or the equally good sounding, but better-looking, Sennheiser PX100.
The Grado SR60 has long been the recommended entry point for folks looking for great sound from an affordably-priced headphone. Probably our favorite can in the Grado line, the SR60 model likely delivers the best overall sound quality under $100. Sure it’s not the best-looking pair of headphones, but you’re not going to mind looking a bit old-school with a whole noggin full of awesome sound.
Its bargain $99 price tag makes the Sennheiser HD280 Pro the official “go-to” recommendation for full-sized, sealed headphones. Obviously, great sound will win our heart over every time but a very good seal, plus the ability to fold up into a fairly small bundle, make these headphones a really spectacular buy.
Serious travelers know that in-ear-monitors (IEMs) provide far better isolation and sound quality than noise-canceling or sealed headphones. About the best thing to ever happen to an iPod, the Ultimate Ears super.fi 3 is a great mix of good audio performance, sound isolation, and low price.
Shure’s IEMs have perhaps been a little hit-and-miss in the past— ABSOLUTELY no longer! Their E4C not only sound terrific but the entire build quality/ergonomics/looks equation is a total winner. These cans are both punchy and well-detailed through the midranges, an unusual mix for IEMs at this price.
For a slightly quicker or more forward-sounding, top-of-the-line headphone, the Sennheiser HD 595 approaches it’s ultra-refined, smooth-sounding, upscale big brother HD 650 in performance but provides a bit more “up-front,” less laid-back sound.
The newest incarnation of AKG’s top-of-the-line headphone is the K701 and, boy, does it sound amazing! After a lengthy initial break-in period, the K-701 sound becomes textured, refined and punchy—a totally uncommon combination of sonic characteristics. Match it up with a world class HeadRoom headphone amplifier and a high-end reference source, and we guarantee you one of the purest high-end listening experiences you’ve ever had.
Ok I think i have said this here before but im having horrible trouble with my ears

please help, have onyof you had this, do you know what it is, Im flying also on saturday and Im so scared ill blow an eardrum
and Iv been itchin to use them since I got me new aids, and I got a chance a few weeks ago in the cenima, first I saw that the screen I was to go into had it, so I asked at the counter to see if it was on, and the guy didnt have the slightest idea what I was on about!! If ever I got a look as though I had 15 heads and a 3rd eye, that was it!! so he went and asked someone who was supposed to be in charge, and she didnt know, so she rang someone who told her to tell me that it was on and just turn on the aids and work away, so off I went nearly late for the show, in I went and as the movie started I switched on the T facility and….. it was better without the loop lets just put it that way, I know it was working but it was like a whisper to me, the volume was just useless, so low it was pointless, so I watched the show happily with the aids just as they were! I missed a few words here and there, but Im now worried, are all loops this low volume or are my aids wonky or something?? I dunno Iv never had the facility before, but if its like this, it isnt any good for me at all!
Note: In case you haven’t noticed, the server has had about all the vim and vigor of a dead cow lately. We’ve been severely under attack by spammers. Most of the spams don’t get through, but it’s enough to bring the poor server to it’s knees.
I’ve instituted some new anti-spam measures. They shouldn’t impact you at all, but if you get a “forbidden” message, please please please let me know at moonbatty on gmail (email) so that I can get things working for you again. Sorry for the bother, but hopefully this will allow the server to come back to life.
At the moment I’m in Gothenburg (Göteborg) in Sweden for a conference (an international one, so the language of the conference is English). But I needed to escape the vast numbers of people after the opening event tonight and found a quiet Italian restaurant near the hotel. Most of the people there, sitting outside on the terrace where I was too, as it’s a beautiful evening, were Swedish. I should emphasise that this is a language of which I know not one word (correction, I do now know one word - “Tak” which means “Thank you”, I think
Anyhow, I was sitting surrounded by these Swedish people and the sorts of sounds their conversation was making were exactly like the way I (sort of) hear English. The way intonation rises and falls in sentences - that sort of thing - seems very similar to English, except that when I tried to lipread them nothing made any sense at all apart from some slightly confusing words which might have actually been English since everyone seems to speak it more or less perfectly here.
So, all this Swedish-sounding-like-it-might-be-English has got me wondering whether other Scandanavian languages sound (and even look on lips) quite similar to English. I have no idea, but this evening’s experience was kinda interesting. It could so nearly have been English until I tried to work out whether it meant anything.
Not a very profound observation, but it’s kinda cool to be posting from a hotel in Sweden
