I always thought “It’s a good thing that I’m deaf, because if I ever become schizophrenic it’ll be easy to know what’s real and what’s not, because if I can UNDERSTAND the voices that are telling me to kill someone, then they’re obviously not real voices.”

  2. Sara :

Related: I always thought that it sort of sucks that anyone I’m with would find it terribly easy to cheat on me. I mean, they could have hot phone sex while I’m in the room, and I wouldn’t notice. :p

  3. lette :

hmmmmm, well I do believe its handy to be in the canteen at college and know from accross the room if someone is talking about me or not!! :p lipreading rocks, but yeah, paranoia in general is what it is!!
I have become skilled in almost, reading peoples thoughts!! and it freaks people out, What i mean is, if im talking to someone, I know how to read them so well (people I know well that is) that I can tell how they feel, weather they telling the truth or lying, and weather they are sincere or not, The lipreading and deafness means I rely on what my eyes tell me, their body movments and expressions reveal more that they think!!

so If I talking to someone who doesnt like me, I can usually tell!! :p

When I’m in paranoid mode, if I think they are talking about me, I either won’t hear them or I’ll not hear them right, so it becomes unimportant, and slink back into the little world of my own, which is where I like to be… :)

  5. lette :

at that lette bursts into paranoiac song*……I like to be beside the seaside……

  6. Sara :

Lette, I do the mind reading thing, too. :) I’ll finish their sentences for them in the words that they would have used, and guess exactly what they’re about to say, based on the facial expression, past knowledge of them, and something they said two days ago that started with the same facial arrangement. It’s funny.

  7. lette :

yeap been there and done that and still sucessfully freak them out!

The main culprits for this were my stepmother and little sister, usually while we were in the car, but also when I didn’t have decent lipreading view of everyone. I asked a few times ‘what?’ but was told ‘It wasn’t about you’…

I know my stepmum and sister were making remarks about other people, and I know they think I’m a great big NERD (they did make that clear). My dad at least made his sarcastic comments in such a way that there was a facial expression, or if he was ‘teasing me’ he would make sure I knew he was saying it. If he’s gonna tease he does it to my face, not behind my back.

I also had to keep asking “So what is the plan?” because I’d not have understood enough of the referential muttering to know exactly what was going on as various options would be discussed. I don’t understand how everyone knew stuff cos I didn’t hear most of it.

I took to waiting till sister, stepmum and dad had gone to bed and asking my aunt and uncle cos they were both audible and clear. If I couldn’t understand my uncle after 2 times, my aunt would say it cos she knows I find male voices really hard. I didn’t feel like it was a big deal, they just did it - and never told me it wasn’t important.

I can do the lipreading thing if there is a facial expression and lipreading pattern to go on. I was ok for about 2 or 3 days but then I ran out of energy and tolerance for it all and took to switching off and ignoring everyone.

I never really worried about the cheating thing, as my ex successfully cheated on me using the Internet and then living in a different city from me. Someone did tell me, but he was such a bullshit merchant and shitstirrer about everything I didn’t believe him.

I figure if kim wanted to cheat on me she would find a way and it wouldn’t have to involve phones, she’s the 1337 haxx0r around here and could cover her tracks easily. I believe she’s too ethical for such nonsense, if she wanted someone else she’d say so, that’s what she is like.

I’m not so good at the facial expression business as lette and sara seem to be. I can do it quite well, but not for very long. I can do the psychic thing much better online, my instincts in online chat are very very good - much better than IRL.

  10. lette :

yeah real life can be so tiresome it hurts!!
1337 eh?? heheh I thought I was the only one left of the femails who got leet!! :)
